Scarlett vs Retro

Going a bit retro on today's post and moving away from my love of 1950's prettiness and florals so please do not adjust your computer screen!

As I cant bear to see anything thrown away and with my inability to say 'No' Ive ended up with 3 bits of pure retro pottery, these bad boys are huge and my hubby hates them lol.  So let me introduce you to the West German pottery house guests:

This is a Scheurich pottery floor vase and its huge!  I've been using it as an umbrella stand for the last week.  It still has it's original label which is sweet:

This vase is either 1960's or 1970's as the Internet search on the base number was a bit inconclusive.

Along with this big boy came its brothers:
These are massive as well - lol.  They have been living in the down stairs loo until I can find what I'm going to do with them.  Where did they come from? Well a family member was going to throw them away from my nans house so being the hoarder in training I said I'd give them a home :o)

Along with these I found this retro Aladdin pump flask in the charity shop:
It was £2.80 so I couldn't leave it there, may be one for ebay in the future if I don't get round to using it.  I also picked up this vintage piece of Denby:

This was £2.30 - not bad for a piece of Denby but it doesn't really fit with my kitchen so this may be going to a friend.

And of course not to be left out with you all, I finally found a granny blanket - hoorah!

I paid £1 - am I now allowed in the Granny Blanket club? *wink*

And because I cant leave this post without at least one flower:
These are my bargain Lilies from Asda - reduced to £2.50 and they smell amazing!  If you look closely you'll also see my Cath Kidston cowboy print nappy bag - forgot to move it for the picture.

So I did manage to squeeze some floral and a bit of CK in  - Mwahahaha!

Happy Friday all!
Scarlett x

  1. It wouldn't be the same without at least a little touch of floral or CK! :-)

Those vases are gigantic - I've never seen that retro pottery in pieces as large as those, do you think hubby will evict a couple?

    Can't beat a granny blanket :)

If the vases were smaller like alot smaller they would make nice pasta spaghetti holders i think but that's just me and my weird taste lol.

  3. The vases are quite nice in a group, I think. Perhaps you should start a major umbrella and walking stick collection - or a passion for pampas grass?

Zooming off now to Asda to get lilies.... such a beautiful jug you've put yours in. xxx

  8. I think the vases need to be named, they look like a family. I'm sure I've seen one of them before, at a friend's house. It had peacock feathers in it, and I was frightened because I was told they had 'the devil's eye' on them.

  13. You did well with your Scheurich - a friend of mine collects it and has seen prices increase in recent years. He reckons that in a few years time after the current 1950s trends are over, that 70s designs will be the next 'thing'.

  14. The vases are awesome!!! I am not into 70's either but you have to admire their awesomeness! find a corner, fill them with fake flower's and they will look great.

  17. Do you know that I've never been keen on that 70s German stuff, however, having seen your vase ensemble, I've changed my mind. Loving them.

Mr J and P and I have both been drooling over your red flask (I know, it wasn't a pretty sight). We have a thing for flasks and at the last count, we've got 8!! How ridiculous is that for a 3 person household? Anyway, yours is definitely the best I've seen. Lurve.

    Granny blankets rock!
