Do you remember the little manky shelving unit I bought from the boot sale for 50p?
My search for a suitable and bargain knob led me to 'The Range', this one in the bag for £1. Those floral knobs are hard to come by you know *wink* (I'm expecting some witty knob comments ladies!)
I also used 2 of the blue and white charity shop plates I bought on Tuesday, see here, and turned them into a cake stand:
This is going to be an ideal birthday present, and I hope they like it as much as I do (am going to use the other plates to make one to keep myself!).
Short and sweet post for me today :o)
Wow for the shelf...don't like the person who sold you for 50p see this... he/she might have some sleepless night!
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with a bit of Cath Kidston.
ReplyDeleteAt the range it's easy! That jingle forever gets stuck in my head.
Lucky person to get that cake stand,it's lovely!
xx
All out of knob gags this morning - and that's the long and short of it ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a transformation of the shelves! And I must get drilling after seeing yours and Liz's cake stands. Did you need lots of practise plates (and goggles)? I'd have the fear about flying china!
Wow now that's some makeover. What a transformation, just goes to show what the right paint, a dash of CK and a decent knob can do ;0)
ReplyDeleteCan you please share where the cake stand parts come from? ebay or old cakes stands beyond repair?
Thank you xx
Wow the shelve looks amazing what a transformation well done you as for the plate stand how do you go about drilling the holes as ive yet to find a cakestand so think im gonna have to end up going down the route of making one lol
ReplyDeleteGreat makes :) Can I ask where you got your cake stand fittings from?? I've a load of plates I want to convert :)
ReplyDeleteThe little shelf looks fab :) Love the knobs ;)
Cracking stuff - you did good! They look lovely.

ReplyDeleteMarvellous makeover, and I’m glad you are discerning when it comes to knobs. You can’t spend all that time and effort and then pick up any old knob that’s lying around - that has been many gal’s undoing!
ReplyDeleteThe shelves look wonderful, total bargain at 50p!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for 6 knobs for a desk makeover, a girl can never have to many!
Oh just beautiful Scarlett ~ I love the little shelves, and the cake stand looks wonderful! Love Brenda
ReplyDeleteWow looks lovely, what you going to use it for?
ReplyDeleteAlso I'd like to know too where you got the cake stand fittings from.

ReplyDeleteSophie x
Fabulous revamps Scarlett, but then iwould expect nothing less from you, you clever thing you.
ReplyDeleteFor goodness sake, put us all out of our misery and tell us how you did the cake stand! Surely, you didn't drill holes in those plates did you?? I've seen, on another blog, a cake stand with a cup in between each plate as a base which is a good idea as well.
The decoupage is awesome btw. xx
Love how you did the plate stand?Tutorial? and where can we buy the stand parts?
ReplyDeleteHow did you do the cake stand? Love it and Cath Kidston is my fav! Love your ideas ;) You smarty! ;)Alyssa of Boston Bee
ReplyDeleteI bought a knob at a car boot sale on Sunday that said 'lift' on it - I could think of all knob jokes then but now they've disappeared!
ReplyDeleteCake stand is awesome - something I've always wanted to try doing. The shelving is so cute too.
I'm really keen on the cake stand! It's absolutely gorgeous hun, similar to one Liz made on Shortbread and Ginger - both utterly lovely and highly covetable :-D
ReplyDeleteLove the little shelving unit makeover - will it be a pretty desktop stash holder? Or maybe for herbs and spices in the kitchen?
Jem xXx
The little unit is a thing of beauty. I'm very interested in making some cake stands myself as we too have been drilling holes in china this week, where did you get the metalwork for it?
ReplyDeleteYour friend is going to love that cake stand, what a brilliant remake. I love the shelf, too. Great new knob. xxx

ReplyDeleteAdorable Scarlett!! I'm going to be on the hunt for Kath Kidson napkins!
ReplyDeleteAs for knobs? Cute for sure.... But I'm more fond of jugs..... Does that make me a ...clay-bian? *winks* ....Sorry for desperately pathetic pun.... Vanna
From butt face ugly to very pretty - your shelving project is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Scarlett! Great blog, loving the boot sale anecdotes x
ReplyDeleteHow amazingly creative! I really want to learn how to decoupage as I think it's such a nice way to bring furniture back to life just like you have done. Love the cake stand.. I wouldn't have the first idea about how you managed that but it looks amazing! xxx
ReplyDeletewow both items are absolutely gorgeous scarlett!
ReplyDeleteit seems we had the same idea, i too have got a lovely teaset that im going to use to turn into cakestands!
lovely transformations as usual!
That is an incredible make over!! Love how it looks with the flowers on it. I also think those plates made a great cake plate. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove your cake stand. I looked at some previous posts and had to laugh at the comments in the opshops. "I'll take the drumstick!" Classic!
ReplyDeleteOh those shelves are brilliant and the cakestand is pure genius - if it were given to me I'd be utterly thrilled. You are so clever! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the cake stand you made. How on earth do you do that - a quick tutorial would be much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteYour amazing and just as sweet as can be , LOVE the shelf makeover!
ReplyDeleteOoh excellent crafting, love the florals! :)
ReplyDeleteScarlett makes....me jealous!! Woah there, these are two seriously amazing makes my dear. I have no knob jokes. However there is a shop in Harrogate called Knobs and Knockers (ho ho that's how funny we are in this neck of the woods).
ReplyDeleteI too, like Lakota, am getting v inspired by this drilling business but must admit to being quite daunted too. I'm ashamed to say that the only people who use drills in my house are the mister and the four year old (and one's a toy obv). Maybe you could do a porcelain drilling tutorial for us??
Just popped over from Florence and Mary! What a lovely blog you have! I love your makes!!!
ReplyDeleteha ha ... 'crafty little minx' ... seriously if you saw the mess I'd made you wouldn't say that! :)
ReplyDeleteNice knob,love!!
ReplyDeleteThat little shelf thingy looks amaaaaazing!!! From drab to fab!! Marvellous, darl!
