Hmmmm what should I talk about today?.....
Hows about ELVIS!
I went to the 2012 Elvis in concert tour at Wembley on Saturday night and it was bloody brilliant. For those who haven't heard of the tour it basically is a video projected Elvis (footage from his shows) singing with the original former band mates playing live on stage. Those musicians are no spring chickens now by my god they can sing/play.
In his lifetime Elvis only ever toured in America and Canada, a world tour was an unrequited dream for him (and us his fans) so this tour is doing for Elvis what he never got to do while he was alive.
It was a fabulous night of great music but even better was the atmosphere, thousands of Elvis fans under one roof!
There is nothing better than people watching at an Elvis gig. There were 70 year olds wearing head to toe '68 special' leather, women adorned with pictures of the King, teddy boys, rockabilly gals and lots and lots of dyed black quiffs!
So to all of those I had a chat to on Saturday night that may have found there way here - a huge hello, thanks for making it a brilliant and beautifully eccentric evening.
Big Love and Long Live the King!
O,my friend Gillian has seen this show in Memphis,at one of the anniversaries of his death and LOVED it! She's huge Elvis fan,and has been to graceland a few times, and even made a documentary for TV her in NZ about her experiences at a Graceland vigil!

I am not into Elvis but it sounds like a brilliant show. What a fab atmosphere xx
ReplyDeleteBet that was a great night and you sung along to every word (I would).
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing on the radio that Elvis had died and telling my Mum - she didn't believe me. We had to wait till the next news bulletin so she could hear it for her self - all in the world before 24 hour news!!
Awesome! i just love the promo video, so glad you had a brilliant time at the concert! must be a full house and cant imagine a 70yr old wearing head to toe leather hahaha.

ReplyDeleteHow cute do you look, my little rockabilly chick?
ReplyDeleteThe crazy man in the jumble queue who thinks I'm Cher's off to see this in Birmingham and was beside himself with excitement. x
Wow, that sounds amazing! I've heard about it before, but to hear about it from someone that went makes it sound even more awesome! Elvis is one of only a few artists that every single person in my family enjoy...many a family party getting our bad selves down to a bit of the King!
ReplyDeleteOh, and you look fab Missy!
Sounds such a neat idea!
ReplyDeleteYou always do good when you talk Elvis! Many years ago my mom told us she wanted 'that hymn' sung at her funeral. "You know the one," she said. "How Great We Are" When she did it made us all smile to belt out the chorus - How great we are, how great we are!
ReplyDeleteLook at how adorable you are, Elvis, look at you doll face! I have never been into Elvis but I bet it was fabulous people watching for sure!
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun. I am still an Elvis fan. Once he was giving a performance in Portland, Oregon and I wanted to go so bad but couldn't get tickets. I would have even driven the 350 miles to go see him.
ReplyDeleteI did, however, fly down to Seattle from Alaska to see an Elvis impersonator and see my best friend back my single days.
*How exciting*
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had SO MUCH fun!
P.s. You are beautiful, love that picture of you.
What a wonderful night....love him!
ReplyDeleteI do like a bit of Elvis myself - not the great fan that you are of course - but he ain't half bad. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely that you had such a great evening Scarlett - and you're looking quite fetching in your vintage head scarf.
Great pic of you - love the effect! And of course you were there to worship the King - sounds like a fun night xxx
ReplyDeleteI am always inspired by your undying love and passion for Elvis! xxx
ReplyDeleteWell, Elvis was beautiful, of course (especially in the 1968 comeback special) but YOU are stunning! Why on earth don't you post pics of yourself all the time? More Scarlett please!
ReplyDeletePS. I assume you've read the Peter Guralnick biographies of Elvis? I thought they were really good. xxxx
Hello my sweet :o)
ReplyDeleteJust popped in to see how you're doing. Sounds like you had a fantastic time my lovely. -Specially after being so poorly!
Hope you have the most happy week. Take care Scarlett,
Love n hugs to you.

I bet you were in Elvis heaven! You look so so pretty, we need to see your face more often! xxx
ReplyDeleteI had some friends who went to see this and said it was amazing!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time,
Victoria xx
I saw the same show in Birmingham the following night - Sunday - I was completely blown away !!
ReplyDeleteIt was justlike seeing the man himself - aren't those backing singers just fantastic ?
There was also lots of Elvis lookalikes there, and like you, I couldn't help but notice the age group - from 6 - 99 !! what other artist could attract such a wide age range in an audience ?
A great time was had by all - Long Live the King !
