Bit of Craft

Its been a while since I've shown you a craft make of mine on here - manly because i haven't had time to scratch my butt let alone get my craft on.

Well I finally got the mod podge back out to make a couple of Cath Kidston print decs for the tree. I admit I am loving CK's bird print on the Christmas collection but alas not that keen on the price tag.

So I bought myself some wooden tree shapes at a craft shop and painted them white:

And with a packet of Cath Kidston bird print napkins and some mod podge I have myself a couple more tree decorations:

Now I just need to get the Christmas tree up!

Anyone else not got the decorations and tree up yet?

Love to you all

Scarlett Loves little chairs!

When I got pregnant, hubby and I were both in agreement that we would not find out the sex of the baby, it was going to be the best surprise of all (plus if I was going to go through that pain then I wanted a surprise at the end of it! lol).  I think the fact of not knowing caught everyones imagination at work and I would daily have people coming up to me and saying "I think its a ...". The majority thought it was going to be a boy but I thought I would know better with this 'maternal instinct' I was supposed to develop during pregnancy, lots of friend told me they "just knew" what they were having. Well I got it into my mind that I was having a girl, I just 'felt' like it was a girl, and because I piled on the pounds during pregnancy I was round everywhere not just the bump so no one could go on bump position - haha.

So when I went to my local recycling centre to drop of the recycling I'd accumulated for 2 weeks, I thought I'd have a peak into the "sales area" (the metal shack that the fellas down there put the items thrown away that they know they can get a bob or two for to pay for their lunches!). It really amazes me the things people throw away - perfectly useable items. On this particular day I saw this lovely little childrens chair - too cute for words and I knew I could do it up for bubbas nursery. They only wanted £1 for it so in my mind with the thoughts of a little girl I transformed it to this:

I sanded and painted the wood white and then added the dove decoupage motiff (which I had stored away a few months earlier looking for a project to use it on).

And ta-da I had a cute shabby chic nursery chair. So I'm sure you know what the outcome was.... I had a little boy :o) So much for my pregnancy instincts!  But I adore little chairs so this one hasn't gone to waste and has its own little corner in my home.  I'm now on the look out for another child's chair for a bargain price that I can transform into a pirate theme to fit my sons nursery.
