Got a new friend in the garden today....
Mwahahaha! I finally found a replacement flamingo for my garden :o)) He's currently living in the clematis pot until the rest of the garden is finished and then I can find the perfect spot for his royal beakiness! Do you know what I resisted buying...
I sooooooo want one of these retro raffia umbrellas - my nan and grandad used to have an ancient one when I was little and I loved the cold SodaStream pop in the garden on the yellow plastic chairs with the hula umbrella! You just cant take the tack out of this girl. I might go back and buy it though as I so want to see the neighbours faces when i sit in my garden with my plastic flamingos and my raffia umbrella drinking cheap cocktails from my 1950's pitcher and glasses! eeeeee!!
It is also hubby's birthday today so we've had a meal out and a wonder round the next town (where I spied the umbrella!), I tried to be good and not go into any charity shops seeing as it was his day out but one shop got the better of me and when I saw this:
I had to have it as its perfect for my desk, just now need a fancy pen to put in it. The charity shop ladies were very sweet and looked through their pen pot for a fitting pen but they were all too big - but hey who cares for £1 :o)
Tack and treasure - life is never dull in my home!
Scarlett x

I so wish you lived next door to me, you'd make me laugh every day - you forgot your lovely full skirted cotton dress and 50's sunglasses LOL
ReplyDeleteI love it all! So fabulously tacky, I wish I had a garden of my own to put a flamingo in! Wonder if my neighbours will notice if one 'nests' in our shared garden?!
ReplyDeleteI would of snagged that umbrella ,but there is barely enough room for me in these British small casas.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will look so cool with your cocktails amor.

Happy Birthday to your gorgeous Hubby.

ReplyDeleteI think the umbrella is made of flamingo, no?
ReplyDeleteWell done on sourcing Beaky - maybe he will deliver you vintage kitschness in the style of storks and babies?
I bought my husband a soda stream when we first got together, he maintains best present ever (a newish one, I've not been dating since Gremlins was in the cinema). I never had one as a child, but my mate Fliss did and I loved it. We got to eat tinned Campbells meatballs at hers too, bliss (when you're 9 anyway)
Happy Birthday to your hubby, Scarlett!! i saw lots of those ruffia umbrella in one of the place in hometown, arent they just colorful!! we used to make them as skirt for parade or hair decoration for men to pose as women and wear them as skirt too while playing soccer game at independence day, so fun! i absolutely adore the flamingos! in fact i was browsing ebay today as i was looking for garden ornament as i was looking through the gnomes ones , i saw the flamingos too! gosh you really couldnt resist to charity shop couldnt you? hahaha i know i couldnt too even if it's my husband's birthday hahaha but love what you got there for £1, gorgeous pattern on the pen stand/holder!! xx Susan

Scarlett, where the devil did you find it? The flamingo I mean. I need to know!
ReplyDeleteYes, I love those rafia umbrellas too but are garden is too tiny to accommodate one of those - boo hoo.
Happy bday to hubby. xx
I love Flamingos and have one in my yard. So happy you found a new one. I love that umbrella, oh a nice cocktail under it would be divine!
ReplyDeleteWe have a raffia umbrella that we use for the kid's summer b-days and for fourth of July. Then we use the canvas one the rest of the time.

ReplyDeleteYou've reminded me that flamingoes for the garden are definately on my shopping list for this summer!
ReplyDeleteThat pen holder is very feminine - I love it!
I have very cool neighbours so I think they'd probably enjoy seeing that riot of colour in my garden....but my hubby would take one look and start packing a suitcase for me. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's all very kitschy-lovely. The world needs more of it.
I can sense a very vintage garden feel from this : ). The pen holder is a beaut, I don't blame you for snapping it up and at that price you can't go wrong, I just hope you find a pretty pen that fits xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your flamingo, Scarlett! Those parasols are glorious tacky, every caravan on My Big Fat Gyspy Wedding seemed to have one outside but I'd love an orange one to match our campervan. xxx
ReplyDeleteHope hubby had a great day, don't you just love Sodastream!!
ReplyDeleteBee happy x
Have a delicious day!
The instant I saw your blog name I knew I'd hit follow on my first visit! LOVE the umbrella - it will call to you in the night "Return for me... return for me..." The pen holder is gorgeous and the flamingo... its just not spring around here until the plastic flamingos return to the garden.
ReplyDeleteOhh!!! A pen stand!! I love it, so classy! Now the hunt is on for the perfect pen :-D Stationery shopping is almost as good as charity shopping!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect place to hide the Flamingo, the clematis pot sounds like some sort of hip jazz club :-P
