So let me introduce you to the new additions:
Mother of Pearl Melissa compact (look how clean and tidy it is inside with original paper liner! eeee!) This one has been in the window for a few weeks now and was marked at £10 - too rich for me but hey £5 on half price day will do me fine thanks!
This was the new one in the window - again its never been used and has original powder sponge and it was only £1.25! More inner squealing.
And the final pretty, the elderly lady of the group:
Has the previous powder in it (got to love that powder smell) and has been well loved but its still a beautiful compact - especially for £2.50 :o)
These make me happy:
Just a quick post for me today :o)
Swoon, I love me some vintage compacts.
ReplyDeleteI own a similar mother of pearl mirror, found at a charity shop too.
You lucky girl, brand new and the smell of powder perfume is such a delight.
Have a great day amor.
I am loving the mother of pearl one, it is gorgeous, and even better at half price, You are so right, you have got to love that : ) xxx
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell them. I imagine a dainty white-gloves hand taking them out of a good quality leather handbag. What happened to us ladies eh? When did we become so masculine...
ReplyDeleteOh I love compacts too, I would have had to have the mother of pearl at almost any price!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Oh lovely!! Vintage compacts are just such gorgeous things to collect - your mother of pearl one is stunning!
ReplyDeleteJem xXx

ReplyDeleteI own my nan's from when she passed away a while ago, its very similar to the gold coloured one. It still has her powder in and I carry it in my own make-up bag at all times but would never use it. It's to special to use and the smell reminds me of her.
ReplyDeleteGreat compacts! I have a couple from my Grandmother but I should add a few more and make a full blown collection out of them.
ReplyDeleteLovely mother of pearl bargain- I would have made an exception for £5!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous.A lovely little collection.Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI am just in awe of your charity shopping prowess. The first one is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove love love the mother of pearl one especially, I would have been very tempted even at full price as it's so beautiful. They're all pretty though, I can't pass them up either. (Still never have one in my handbag when I need one though!)
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! They remind me of my mom that I lost 16 years ago. I miss her so much!

ReplyDeleteScarlett they are so pretty! I love them all and I think the one with the old powder is extra special. Great finds and way to go to wait for 1/2 price day! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteScarlett they are beautiful. I especially love the MOP one! My first job 30+ years ago was behind the counter of the chemist shop. I remember us having old Stratton compacts in a cabinet that had been there for a gazillion years. We thought they were terribly old fashioned and only fit for grannies! Oh how I wish I had then the appreciation for these fine old beauties that I do now!
ReplyDeleteMy mum collects powder compacts and your 2 new beauties are lovely! Isn't it great when they still have some powder inside!
ReplyDeleteVictoria xx
Oh oh oh I would have snapped them up too love love love them well done you
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty - will you be able to put your own powder in one? I remember reading that Duchess of Windsor had rooms painted exact shade of her face powder to help her complexion glow. Its a must, I think! :)
